Another (jobless) week done. Jeez. I'm starting to get just a little bored at this point. This is why I drink, people! Although I did spend a small portion of Friday night and Saturday night at a biker clubhouse in Columbus, GA. My ass was slapped. I danced to Elvis' "Suspicious Minds." My smart mouth was brought back up to the level it should be. I reverted back to drinking Jack and Coke (oh how I missed you!) after a nine month absence. All in all a good weekend.
This week's AIAWW:
WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER
It's rare that a song makes me cry that I'm not seeing live at that moment. Bjork made me cry when she played "All Is Full Of Love" just because I was caught off guard and didn't think she'd actually play it. I'm a sucker for The Edge's opening twinkling guitar during the opening of "Where The Streets Have No Name.". But this one...I can't even describe it. My eyes immediately welled up. Volcano Choir is made up of Bon Iver's Justin Vernon and the band Collections of Colonies of Bees. I immediately downloaded their "Unmap" album. I haven't stopped listening to this song since in all of its six minutes and 55 seconds of glory. Turn it up loud and make your soul glow.
Volcano Choir - Still
I sense a theme this week. Songs that make you feel all warm and ready for Christmas. Freelance Whales fit it perfectly and I'm REALLY liking them. They're currently on tour with Fanfarlo (and not coming to Atlanta, meh) but here's a few songs from their "Weathervanes" album.
Freelance Whales - Generator First Floor
Freelance Whales - Generator Second Floor
Freelance Whales - Broken Horse
Freelance Whales - Location
Fun band from back up in my old Canadian neck of the woods. No album available yet but I'll keep checking.
Two Crown King - A One Man Mess
From the Sirius vault:
I'm late to the whole Decemberists movement but this is an excellent introduction.
The Decemberists - The Wanting Comes In Waves
Yes, that's Maynard. But did you get that was Milla Jovovich? Because I sure as hell didn't and she actually sounds damn good...huh...
Puscifer - The Mission
Keane - Spiralling
And just a quick "hey, stop being all indie because this blog didn't used to be about that" diversion:
Uffie - Pop The Glock (DJ Mehdi Casco Edit)
The XX - Shelter (Death To The Throne Remix)
And finally, entering into the "Well, that's bloody weird" category is the video for Cornelius' "Fly." I like it. I think.
