It's been a weird month to be honest. Settling in to a new place, trying to find my way around Atlanta and slowly falling in love with this city. There's something EXTREMELY cool about driving through downtown and seeing the Olympic Torch statue and the tall skyscrapers and knowing that this will become MY city, leaving behind San Francisco, the city I could get around with my eyes closed (which I'm sure would create some car crashes...been known to almost happen as well as you can see here)
behind. And because I'm feeling a little bit melancholy, this week represents my mood. Perfect music that'll slightly break your heart for a cold Monday morning (for those of you with jobs. Interview this week for a pretty big one so I'm hoping I join the masses soon...)...Enjoy!
OK, so while crawling around Audio Muffin, I came across this great video which pretty much set the tone for this week. Apparently there's a whole series of these where bands walk around France playing their stuff. Excellent, because you know I like to inject a little bit of culture into these proceedings:
Bon Iver - For Emma, For Ever Ago - A Take Away Show from La Blogotheque on Vimeo.
Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago
Fanfarlo - I'm A Pilot
The Cinematic Orchestra - To Find A Home
The Middle East - The Darkest Side
Tegan and Sara - Hell
And just because this song constantly plays on Sirius' Alt-Nation and it's damn good:
Manchester Orchestra - I've Got Friends
In other weird music news I stumbled across this random Swedish band called The Tiny. It's REALLY weird - I'm just putting it out there but as a fan of The Knife and Bjork I like it. Suck it, it's my blog. The thing that got me was when the strings kicked in on "Last Weekend" - just have a listen and see if it does anything to your cold insides:
The Tiny - Last Weekend
The Tiny - Closer
Black Carl, a fabulous new find, is a Phoenix-based band who's "Borrowed" album reflects me perfectly. A whole hell of a lot of soul in one small package...
Black Carl - Dirty Wine
Black Carl - Can't Give In
Black Carl - The Sheep
Aaaaaaaaaaand finally, welcome to Ampersand Designs preview of our Winter Collection available in-store November 1st, 2009.
