All In A Week's Work - 01/04/09

First post of the year. After spending a weekend back in California doing pretty much absolutely nothing (buying new furniture from Ikea - lego for grown-ups, watching the final dance scene from Step Up 2: The Streets on repeat (yes, I'm that lame), and finishing Chuck Klosterman's “Killing Yourself To Live.”) I'm pretty damn wiped out. All that dancing and drinking with the family will do that to you.

A whole beginning of the year was almost missed due to that bloody champagne.

ANYWAY, getting back to my love affair with Chuck Klosterman. If you're a music blogger or just really into music you need to pick up either "Killing..." or “Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs” (an unfortunate casualty in my last relationship and I would rather eat my own shoe than ask for it back). The guy has an uncanny way of bringing up obscure references to music that only some of the time I get but I can at least appreciate. He also has an obsession with music which may be classified as unhealthy but unlike me, this guy got to write for Spin magazine in the late 90s. Not as good as Rolling Stone but none too shabby either. Plus he writes shit like this and I’ve been there too many times to count:
“I have more CDs than 99 percent of America, but fewer CDs than 40 percent of my friends; if an acquaintance has more CDs than me, I feel intimidated and emasculated. I think about my CDs a lot. I find it oddly reassuring to look at them when I’m intoxicated.”
In fact this is what inspired me to buy new bookcases this weekend because my media section is currently overflowing because of my overly-generous family. The 20th anniversary of "Princess Bride" anyone? Anyway, enough of my babbling, onto the sparse findings for this week.

Let's just say I'm out of it with this one seeing as it's been on the radio for a while and I only just heard it on Saturday. That beat is so sick though...
T.I. - Swagger Like Us (Ft. MIA, Kanye West, Lil Wayne and Jay-Z)

An unfinished track rumored to be coming off of Eminem's new album "Relapse"
Eminem - Crack A Bottle

This is the second track I've posted off of Maroon 5's "Call and Response: The Remix Album" that I happened to pick up last week. The whole thing's so damn good. Go get it. Now.
Maroon 5 - This Love (Chris "Tricky" Stewart Mix)

The Chemical Brothers - Hey Boy, Hey Girl (Soulwax Remix)

SebastiAn - Momy (Erol Alkan's Simple Yet Effective Edit)

Hot Chip - We're Looking For A Lot Of Love (Geese Mix)

And then there's this dude, Bad Brilliance. I can't make up my mind if he's a genius or not but his pictures made me laugh. Make the decision for yourself and click here.
